Wiki Loves Monuments
Wiki Loves Monuments is the largest photo contest in the world. Annually, we encourage volunteers and photography enthusiasts to document Belgium's diverse heritage. By uploading these photos to Wikimedia Commons under a free license, we make our national heritage accessible to the whole world and enrich Wikipedia articles with beautiful imagery.
GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums)
We work closely with cultural and heritage institutions to make their valuable collections digitally and freely available. This includes donating images, digitizing rare books, and opening up archives via Wikidata. This way, museums and archives reach a much larger, global audience through the Wikimedia projects.
Wikipedia in the Classroom
A crucial part of our mission is education. With "Wikipedia in the Classroom", we help teachers and students not only read Wikipedia critically but also contribute to it themselves. By having students write articles as a school assignment, they learn about sourcing, neutral point of view, and digital literacy.
Friends of Wikimedia Belgium
To continue funding and organizing all these projects and activities, we rely on the support of donors via Friends of Wikimedia Belgium. This is an independent foundation that raises funds to structurally provide our projects with budget.
